Tuesday Contradictions: Matthew 19:26 – When 'Impossible' Meets God: Why Nothing Is Too Hard

Episode 247 asks the tough question: can God really do anything? Lance Smith surveys Scripture (Matthew 19:26, Genesis 18, Numbers 11, Job, Luke 1:37 and more) to show God’s power is unlimited yet acted through his unchanging, holy character and promises.
The episode addresses apparent contradictions—iron chariots, Jesus’ limits in Nazareth, and the claim that God cannot lie—explaining these as human failure, relational restraint, or moral perfection rather than divine weakness.
Practical encouragement follows: trust God with your impossible situations, pray with confident dependence, and cling to the assurance that God’s promises are steadfast.

At first, the title ”Can God really do anything?” in the summary of Episode 247 made me almost delete Lance from my list of favorite podcasts. I thought, ”Here we go again.” But I kept listening because I know how carefully he handles Bible difficulties and contradictions. He did an outstanding job and didn’t let us down. The episode clearly shows that God can do anything that fits His holy nature, with no real contradictions when you read the verses in context (as always, the key is “In Context”). Lance walks through the strong promises like “nothing is impossible with God” and calmly answers the tricky ones (iron chariots, Nazareth unbelief, “God cannot lie”) with simple examples. I especially liked how it lines up with that old saying: “If the Lord is willing and the creek don’t rise,” and the old South Carolina farmer’s prayer: “Lord, I’d sure like sunshine today, but You know what the crops need better than I do.” Short, encouraging, and full of real-life hope. Perfect for anyone facing something that feels impossible. Just remember, as Lance says, to trust God with your impossible situations, pray with confident dependence, and cling to the assurance that God’s promises are steadfast. And as I do, I now end all my prayers with phrases like “if it is Your will” or “Lord willing.” I highly recommend subscribing and listening weekly — it is definitely worth it. 👍
